A New Adventure

Last year was a crazy year for us. Matt and I finally began our life together as husband and wife in June. We moved into a house that we're renting and began helping with a new church plant. We each personally were learning and growing in our own lives as we grew in our new life together. Needless to say, it was a busy year. Maybe that's why God decided to be loud and clear in his call to us for this coming year.

We have been blessed beyond our imaginations in recent months. It was even the joke with our friends that we didn't need to pay for anything because everything came free and easy to us. And while there were things we had to work for, it was true that we were being flooded with blessings. We were feeling as though our way was beginning to be paved to do something great. After all, to whom much is given much will be required, and all that good stuff.

So we're starting the new year by preparing for an adventure. We'll be spending May through December in Ukraine with Josiah Venture working with youth. A large part of our work will be evangelistic camps and following up with campers after they go home. The goal is to get them connected with a local church where they can be made disciples of Christ and begin to shine a light in their home town. We will teach English and performing arts, we'll help with a floorball league (like floor hockey), we'll attend conferences for youth leaders, and (most importantly) we'll make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Matt has had a heart for Ukraine and Eastern Europe for as long as I've known him. Hardly a month after we began dating in high school he left for a trip to Czech Republic to do an evangelistic English camp. Since then he's been to Ukraine multiple times and his heart is there when he's here. I, on the other hand, have never been to Ukraine. Most people don't believe me since Matt's been there so many times, but I have never had the chance to go. But I believe that God has been preparing me to go at exactly this time.

We're excited for this new adventure and for this chance to share Christ with the people of Ukraine and we'd love for you to follow us at this blog as we share our experiences preparing and while we're there. I know God has a lot to teach us and we want to share that with you.
